About

“Exciting, original, eclectic!” Water’s Edge is one of Cumbria’s finest original bands winning Cumbria’s Live Battle of the Bands in 2017. The band, based in the Keswick/ Cockermouth area delivers a compelling blend of entirely original material. Styles from rock, funk, indie and folk have influenced the songwriting over 18 years and the band’s repertoire contains funky rhythms, epic anthems, danceable songs, jazzy sax solos, multi-part harmonies, violin melodies and thought-provoking lyrics.

Formed as a three-piece in 2007 by singer and acoustic guitarist Lee Hawker and drummer Richard Burford, Water’s Edge has now expanded to a five-piece with Shelagh Hughes on keys and violin, Gail Graves on bass and Andy Hughes on Sax and guitar. Water’s Edge has released five studio albums and one live album, “The longest Day”, which was recorded live in the studio in the summer of 2015. Their sixth studio album is due for release in 2024.

Water’s Edge have played many Cumbrian venues including Theatre by the Lake, Keswick (The Studio and Main Stage), Keswick Mountain Festival, Solfest, Kirkgate Centre Cockermouth and many bars and village halls along the way! See them live and expect a dynamic and captivating show covering the whole range of the band's repertoire over the past fifteen years.
